Genotype and Environment Effects on Phytosterol and Tocopherol Contents in Almond Kernel Oil

The phytosterol and tocopherol contents of almond kernel oil were evaluated in three cultivars, including the Spanish cultivar ‘Marcona’ French cultivars ‘Ferragnès’ ‘Ferraduel’, grown under two different agro-climatic conditions, Zaragoza (Spain) Meknès (Morocco). analysis variance showed significant effects genotype on content, Δ5-Avenasterol, Δ7-Campesterol, Stigmasterol isomers. location effect was contents, β-sitosterol,Δ5-avenasterol, Δ7-stigmastenol, Δ7-campesterol α- γ-tocopherol. highest value observed at (1.48 g kg−1 2.54 kg−1, respectively), as compared to those obtained (1.31 respectively).The values ofβ-sitosterol Δ5-avenasterol (81.93% 10.55% total phytosterols, α-tocopherol Morocco (496 mg oil). These results indicate that warm climate conditions Morocco, tend accumulate more tocopherol. However, significance × interaction contentindicates magnitude variation these traits mainly depends genotype.
